During a trip to visit family in California, we sneaked away for a few days of sightseeing in the Northern part of California. We started in Eureka and then headed over to the Redwood Forest. I hadn't been there since I was too small to remember much. The size of these things is incredible.
With a bright sunny day to enjoy, we visited a few of the historic little towns along the way and saw some really neat things. By the time we got to the forest, it had warmed up and a little of the haze came out of the sky. November in Northern California can be a little chilly.
After driving down the Avenue of the Giants, it was time to head for the coast. We started out with a goal to see some of the lighthouses along the way, but I don't think we saw a single one. Instead we drove down a winding mountain road to get to Shelter Cove. What a great hidden gem! I had never heard of the place until we go there there, but I'll definitely go back if I get the chance. I will check the wind report first though. Out on that cliff, the wind was howling and it was cool enough that it wasn't really suitable for sitting to enjoy the view. So, after a few photos, we went back up the mountain and headed for home. The last shots of the day barely had enough light to show the incredible view. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed the trip!
